Alpacas are very placid, safe creatures who respond well to kind, gentle treatment. Not like dogs and cats, they are flighty prey animals, but can become "tame" if one hangs out with them and allows them to approach. Carrot flavored pellet sized horse treats from your hand, or a hosing on the belly on a hot day, will speed the relationship along. They can be halter trained to walk on a lead. Their main purpose in life is to produce beautiful, colorful, luxurious fleece.Raw fleece, rovings, batting, and yarn, are available for purchase at Camelwood, as well as beautiful breeding and fiber livestock.Camelwood can finance alpaca purchases and/or breeding fees.
